This continuing education training is designed for mental health professionals seeking to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Led by Megan Denis, MS, LCMHC-S, NBCC, this course provides a structured, clinically grounded review of OCD phenomenology, differential diagnosis, and best-practice interventions.

Participants will examine obsessions versus intrusive thoughts, overt and covert compulsions, avoidance patterns, reassurance-seeking, and mental rituals. Special attention is given to differentiating OCD from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder, including high-risk presentations and commonly missed subtypes.

The training reviews evidence-based treatments, with emphasis on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and discusses the role of medication management, CBT, ACT, and adjunctive modalities. Diagnostic challenges, comorbidities, and contraindicated approaches are addressed to support ethical and effective clinical decision-making.

Learning outcomes include improved differential diagnosis skills, stronger case conceptualization, and increased confidence in applying evidence-based treatment strategies for OCD across diverse clinical presentations.
