Sue Tafalla, LCMHCA

Every day, I am motivated by a desire to bring hope to others—especially during seasons when hope may feel distant or difficult to find. I believe each person’s story is unique, and I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.

I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Campbell University and have received specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders, including clinical experience working in an eating disorder treatment facility. In addition, I have experience in pastoral care counseling and welcome opportunities to incorporate faith, spirituality, or religious exploration into therapy for clients who desire that integration.

I enjoy working with teenagers, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, identity development, and social or academic challenges. As an immigrant and a mother of third-culture kids (TCKs), I am especially passionate about helping individuals explore cultural identity and the complexities that can come with balancing multiple cultures and experiences.

My areas of focus include ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, grief, and life transitions. I also enjoy supporting individuals and couples through marital and premarital concerns, parenting challenges, postpartum and motherhood experiences, and relationship difficulties. For clients who desire it, I welcome the integration of faith-based counseling and spiritual exploration into the therapeutic process.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to the unique needs of each client and draws from person-centered therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as a trauma-focused treatment approach to help clients process difficult experiences, reduce emotional distress, and move toward healing. My goal is to help clients feel supported, understood, and empowered as they work toward healing, growth, and lasting hope.

Whether you are navigating a difficult season, processing past experiences, or simply looking for support and guidance, I would be honored to walk alongside you in the process. I look forward to connecting with you.
