Sue Tafalla, LCMHCA
Every day, I am motivated by a desire to bring hope to others, especially during seasons when hope feels difficult to find. I strive to create a compassionate, supportive space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.
I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Campbell University, with training and clinical experience in eating disorder treatment. I also have experience in pastoral care counseling and welcome integrating faith, spirituality, or religious exploration into therapy for clients who desire it.
I enjoy working with teenagers, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, PTSD, grief, relationship concerns, life transitions, identity development, and social or academic challenges. As an immigrant and mother of third-culture kids (TCKs), I am especially passionate about supporting individuals exploring cultural identity and the complexities of navigating multiple cultures.
I am trained in EMDR and sports performance. I’m passionate about helping athletes overcome mental blocks that can affect confidence, focus, and performance. I work with athletes to address thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be holding them back while developing practical mental skills to improve confidence, consistency, resilience, and performance. I support athletes navigating performance anxiety, loss of confidence, fear of failure, or the desire to reach the next level in their sport.
My approach is tailored to each client and draws from person-centered therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate EMDR to help clients process difficult experiences, reduce distress, and move toward healing and growth. I support individuals and couples with marital and premarital concerns, parenting, postpartum and motherhood experiences, and relationship challenges.
Whether you are navigating a difficult season, processing past experiences, or seeking support to reach your goals, I would be honored to walk alongside you toward greater healing, confidence, growth, and lasting hope.
