Lauren Hess, CNM
Lauren Hess is a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides psychiatric care for patients age 13 and up, through every stage of a woman's life, with particular expertise in anxiety, depression, ADHD, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). She has specialized training in perinatal mental health and takes a holistic, patient-centered approach — grounded in evidence-based education and shared decision-making — to help patients navigate mental health concerns during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Lauren has over 15 years of nursing and midwifery experience. She played Division I soccer at Kent State University and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her journey toward midwifery while serving in the Air Force as a labor and delivery nurse, where she became captivated by the way midwives cared for their patients and was eager to learn from them. She and her husband later moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she attended East Carolina University and earned her Master of Science in Nursing.
Beyond the office, Lauren prioritizes family time and outdoor activities such as gardening, hiking, and kayaking. She loves traveling to new destinations and experiencing different cultures, but her day-to-day life is happily filled with raising her daughters, staying active through strength training, enjoying good coffee, and sampling her husband's latest delicious creation in the kitchen.
