Alyssa Orweller, LCMHC
Life is a journey. Sometimes it’s just hard and the world is broken. We might find ourselves not only asking what it would mean to survive but even to thrive. When we have a safe place to process, we can begin on the path towards hope and healing. I strive to create a warm and safe therapeutic environment, providing a nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their challenges and build on their strengths.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Ohio State University and my Master’s degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. I am currently working towards a certificate in Parent Coaching through Connected Families. I work with adults 18+ to help in navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, parenting, adult children of alcoholics, as well as other general mental health concerns such as family/relationship issues, grief/loss, and other major life stressors.
I approach counseling from a holistic perspective, taking into consideration the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of each client. I incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which the therapist and client work together to create change. Upon request, I am willing and able to incorporate Christianity into our work together.
We all have different experiences and different stories to tell. Your story matters and is important in this world. I’d be honored to come alongside you in this healing process.
